Maaike, Customer Success Manager
Today, we have the pleasure of introducing you to Maaike, our Customer Success Manager. Together with Amanda, Maaike works closely with our brands and retailers to make sure they are getting the absolute best of our platform.
Born and raised in the Netherlands, Maaike studied in Groningen and then moved to Amsterdam to begin her career. She spent 4 years at a large, international fashion company in the wholesale team before joining fashionTrade in January 2017.
Why did you decide to join FashionTrade?
In my previous job, I experienced how ‘static’ and unsustainable the current wholesale fashion model was. New technologies have changed the way we live and work but the fashion industry is still lagging behind. Many of my frustration stemmed from this and I was convinced that the industry needed a change.
So when I came across FashionTrade and their concept of enabling fashion retailers and brands to be more efficient through technology, I knew immediately that this was the right company for me!
What is the FashionTrade feature you are most excited about?
Definitely our ‘connect’ feature. Many retailers I’ve spoken to are really keen on searching for new brands online. In the past, they could only do that twice a year, when attending trade shows. With FashionTrade, they can look for new brands, whenever and wherever they want. This also gives them the opportunity to discover brands that are not always at the same trade shows as them.
Can you describe any regular day at Fashion Trade for you?
There really is no such thing as a regular day at FashionTrade! There are so many new things to do and set up that every day feels different: that’s the benefit of working for a start-up company!
When there are too many post-it-notes and ideas flowing – how do you like to distract yourself?
I take a break from the office! I often get the best ideas when I’m outside. I always bike to work: it really clears my head and triggers great ideas.
FashionTrade is a fashion company: so how do you like to shop?
I’m a big fan of online shopping! I find it really relaxing to sit on the couch after work and go through all of my shopping apps on my phone. When I was younger, I used to go to the city centre and shop all day. Since I started working, I have tried to avoid the city center during the weekend because it’s too crowded. Luckily, I always have my phone!
What is your favourite place in Amsterdam?
Most of the time, you can find me in my neighborhood ‘Oud Zuid’ (aka ‘Old South’). The neighbourhood is full of nice cafes and fancy restaurants. My boyfriend and I really love to go out for dinner. One of our favourite place is ‘Marathonweg’: it’s not too far from our place and the food is always great!
What else should we need to know about you?
I just started an online course on programming. I don’t have the ambition to become a developer but since I’m working in a tech company I thought that at the very least I should further my working knowledge on the industry and terminologies. I never expected it, but I actually really enjoy learning how to code, it’s quite fun!
Huge thanks to Maaike for taking the time to share a little about her working life with us!
